What alarm monitoring does
Alarm monitoring involves a remote alarm receiving centre watching the signals from your intruder, fire or other alarm system around the clock. When an activation signal is received, the monitoring centre analyses it, attempts to verify it, and contacts people from your emergency list. The monitoring centre does not dispatch anyone to your site. It provides surveillance and notification — not physical response.
What keyholding does
Keyholding provides the physical response that alarm monitoring cannot. A professional keyholding provider holds keys to your premises securely and dispatches a trained SIA-licensed officer when an activation occurs. The officer attends your property, carries out a site check, deals with whatever they find, and produces a written incident report. The response is physical, documented and professional.
How they work together
The most effective commercial alarm arrangement integrates both: your alarm monitoring centre detects and verifies activations, then contacts your keyholding provider to dispatch a response officer. Monitoring without keyholding leaves you with notification but no action. Keyholding without monitoring means activations may not be detected in the first place.
